Climbers scale the rock of the Rofan massif overlooking Lake Achensee and the Central Alps. Fixed rope routes, also called Via Ferrata, consist of a series of iron staircases, which are attached in the rockface and are carried by a safety cable. With this system, people with moderate fitness can climb heights that are normally only accessible to experienced climbers.
